Bradley,

Good luck in Concord! I'll be there as well. Looks like we'll be starting in the afternoon....my wave goes out at 3:30pm. I can't really complain since everyone else in my age group will have the same conditions. Looks like a fun few days....from the parade of nations to the closing ceremonies.....should be memorable. My training has been hampered slightly by a new baby.....7 weeks old today. My wife is doing more than her fair share with the baby to try to give me the time to train. The many sleepless nights I've had have taken their toll on some of the more intense workouts, but that's alright. That's life! You do the best you can with what you've got.

Regards,
Doug

Bradley,

It was good to meet you too. The race was great, until I crashed 2k into the bike. The 1st 10k was decent for me.....a little under 35 minutes. The bike started out well, despite the rain, but going through a s-curve outside the stadium a little too fast left me skidding on my backside down the road. That was the 1st time I've ever crashed on a bike. Typical road rash to my hand, forearm, back, and lower region. Jumped up, fixed my brakes, checked my front tire, made sure no bones were sticking out anywhere and got back on. The one bottle I had on the bike, a aero bottle, dumped out too leaving no liquids on the bike. Luckily, it was cool and rainy! Rode way too conservative (slow) after that. Saw you come by me on the 2nd loop out by the drag strip. I finished with a decent 5k and then headed to the medical tent to get the wounds tended to. Nothing like having a cute EMT lady scrub asphalt out of my backside on a rainy day! I did finish in under 2 hours but lost several minutes on the bike......oh well....there's always next year.
Good luck and look forward to seeing you in Richmond next year if you make the journey again.

Regards,
Doug
